Cherokee High School was awarded $1,000 for most school participation in the Service League of Cherokee County‘s 10th annual “Run for the Children” race.

The race, which was March 23 in historic downtown Canton, had a total of almost 400 registered runners.

Of that total number, Cherokee High School boasted 82 registered participants, collectively, for the 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, and Phantom Runner categories, earning them the cash prize, which was donated by Cherokee Bank and Roach, Caudill, and Gunn, LLP.

The Run for the Children race is sponsored by the Service League of Cherokee County, a nonprofit organization whose proceeds benefit needy children within the county, assisting them with needs related to healthcare, vision, food, utilities, scholarships and other necessities.
