In Lumpkin County in north Georgia, a tree fell onto a home, trapping a woman in her basement. Authorities say she escaped major injuries.
National Weather Service meteorologist Vaughn Smith said a survey crew was heading to Lumpkin County to determine whether a tornado struck. Smith said Friday morning that officials were still discussing whether to send teams to other areas of the state as well.
