SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — It hasn't been long since Mitch Davis left Savannah for college, and now his band has landed its biggest gig — a slot onstage during the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee.

The Savannah Morning News reports Davis is the lead singer for Staying For The Weekend, one of two bands chosen to play the festival this weekend after entering the Road To Roo contest by Sonicbids.

The band formed after Davis arrived at Belmont University in Nashville last year after graduating from Savannah Country Day School. Davis says the largest crowd his band has played for was about 150 people. Now it's among a Bonnaroo lineup that includes Paul McCartney and the Wu-Tang Clan.

Davis insists he's not nervous. "The more people, the more fun," he says.
