DEAR EDITOR:

It was the fourth paragraph in the Cherokee Tribune interview with Jack Wilroy that really caught my attention.

“When he arrived, at 18, in Korea he wasn’t at all prepared for the chaos and bitter cold.”

I want him to know that one young girl in Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia, remembers hearing WSB radio, Atlanta, with reports from the “38th Parallel” of wounded and dying men: “the blood freezing before it hit the ground.”

I have never forgotten that description.

I salute you, sir.
