A Woodstock exercise studio is working up a sweat to help soldiers stationed in Afghanistan by sending care packages and hosting a blood drive.

On Saturday, Envision Health Studio will sponsor Operation Hydrate Our Heroes to fund care packages that contain AdvoCare Rehydrate products for soldiers in the platoon of Cherokee County firefighter Mike Murphy, who is now stationed in Afghanistan.

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will be on hand for individuals who are able to donate a pint of blood as well, sponsors of the event said. LifeSouth will take blood donations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hydration will help keep Murphy and his platoon healthy and alert so they can better perform the military operations associated with their work, said Beth Hermes, one of those involved in the event.

American troops stationed in Afghanistan endure temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s throughout August and September, she said.

Envision will host a Family Fitness Scavenger Hunt beginning at 11 a.m. Contests, prizes and raffles will be offered throughout the event until 1 p.m.

The event features activities appropriate for all ages.

“Plan to bring family and friends to get fit and give back,” Hermes said.

Since its inception, Envision Health Studio in Woodstock has been dedicated to helping individuals and families get fit and stay healthy through nutrition and exercise instruction, but also to promote a healthier community through various service projects.
