CANTON — Police say further investigation has shown that a Marietta woman who went missing last week was not last seen in Canton, as previously thought, but in Bartow County.

Pacer Cordry, spokesman for the Canton Police Department, said Friday that Deborah Lee Crawford, 41, who was said to have been last seen at Kmart on Marietta Highway on Aug. 19, actually went missing from Bartow County.

“Through multiple resources and developments,” Cordry said, “(detectives) have determined that she was actually last seen at a motel located in Bartow County.”

The Canton Police Department reported last Saturday night that Crawford had been dropped off at the Canton retailer by a friend and then left with a man named Travis.

Cordry said Friday that even though that theory was false, Crawford has still not been found.

“(She) is still considered missing,” he said. “The case has been turned over to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.”

Cordry said last week that Crawford’s family had advised police that she has several mental disorders including depression.

Crawford is a black woman weighing about 165 pounds.

She has a tattoo reading “Brent’s Playground” across her chest and another showing praying hands on her right forearm, Cordry said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 382-5050.
