Two Cherokee County firefighters were promoted during ceremonies on Wednesday at the Cherokee County Administrative Offices in Canton.

Phillip Carlisle and Kevin Hamilton were promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Carlisle came to work for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services in January 2007, while Hamilton started working with the department in September 2008.

Hamilton was a volunteer firefighter prior to becoming a full-time firefighter for the county. Carlisle lives in Buford with his wife Rebecca and Hamilton lives in Cumming with his wife Sherri and son, Austin.

Numerous firefighters, chiefs and family members attended the event, and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services offered congratulations to the two firefighters.
