Mr. Gregory Wayne “Greg” Allen, age 52, 304 Meadowcrest Circle, Canton, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013. Mr. Allen was born in Rome, Georgia on July 3, 1961, son of Robert Allen and Nancy Warren Allen. He was a 1979 graduate of Pepperell High School where he excelled in football. Mr. Allen was a member of the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church and the Bradshaw Farms Country Club. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife, the former Janet Ringham, to whom he was married on January 14, 2000; 3 children, Jarrod Allen, and his wife, Sarah, Cartersville, Emmalee Allen, Canton, and Kyle Allen, Canton; his parents, Robert and Nancy Allen, Lindale; a sister, Mrs. Kristie Jones, and her husband, Roy, Rome; 2 brothers, Bob Allen, and his wife, Peggy, Taylorsville, and John Allen, and his wife, Heidi, Calhoun; 5 grandchildren, Alicia, Michael, William, Keegan, and Madelyn; an aunt that was like a grandmother, Mrs. Mauddaine Baker, Rome; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Conway officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 6 until 8pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence or at the residence of his parents, Robert & Nancy Allen, 303 Garden Avenue, Lindale. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday at 1:30pm and include: Jim Thornburg, John Weiss, Chuck Leckrone, Joe Labik, Joe Phillipone, John Parker, Jeff Warren, and Matthew Leckrone. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society earmarked for Esophageal Cancer Research. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, Rome, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
