The store will celebrate its opening in conjunction with the CBS show “Undercover Boss” tonight at 8 p.m. that will feature Menchie’s CEO Amit Kleinberger as an undercover employee.
Kleinberger, the owner and the youngest CEO to be featured on the show, will don a Menchie’s uniform and mingle with store employees who have no idea of his corporate status.
Local store owners of the Riverstone location, husband and wife Jenny and Greg Brooks, are excited to announce the opening in conjunction to the television event.
“I am so excited,” the former teacher said. “We met the CEO when we were out in Las Vegas for two weeks for the company. He spoke with us. He is an incredible businessman, smiles from ear to ear, but is such a CEO. On ‘Undercover Boss,’ he looks like he is 16 years old. It cracks me up.”
The grand-opening celebration starts Nov. 2 when a ribbon cutting ceremony will be presented at Menchie, with free T-shirts to the first 25 guests, free frozen yogurt, and a balloon artist from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events will continue throughout the week.
On Nov. 3, guests can receive a free plushie doll while supplies last, free T-shirt and face painting.
On Nov. 4, each guest from 5 to 6 p.m. can fill their cup for $1 and on Nov. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. children 10 and younger can receive one cup up to 10 ounces free. Additionally, the day is half-off lunch between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
On Nov. 7, the first 25 guests will get a free dodgeball give-away. On Nov. 8, from 8 p.m. to closing “Date Night” will offer a buy-one, get-one free special to couples.
“We want to make you smile is our motto,” said Jenny Brooks, a teacher for 15 years.
The store offers 14 different rotating frozen yogurt flavors. The California product has no added hormones and offers a new flavor each month. Selections also include lactose free and sorbets items, as well as no-sugar-added products, and gluten-free options.
The timing of “Undercover Boss” and the opening of Menchie’s seems perfect to Brooks, whose first job was in the fast-food industry.
“The times I’ve watched it, it has been heart warming. The boss always recognizes the unsung hero. And the person that works at the lowest level finally gets recognition,” she said.
The owner believes in strengthening the store starting with its employees, some of which are her former students.
“I’ve wanted to instill a positive work ethic in team members for life. They are young but they are so excited to work for Menchie’s,” Brooks said.
Families and people of all ages are encouraged to attend the local Menchie’s opening for a rare opportunity to try the store’s frozen yogurt for free.
“We have had great enthusiasm and expect a big crowd for the opening week,” she said.
Menchie’s in Riverstone Plaza is located at 1355 Riverstone Parkway, in Canton. For more information on the opening week and the store, visit www.facebook.com/Menchies.Riverstone.
