Judge made right decision

Judge Jackson Harris made the right decision by recusing himself. Although I am sure he would have been unbiased, it’s clear that since his wife is a teacher, his decisions would have been attacked.

Kelly Marlow and her associates are using every delay tactic because this is in her best interest.

Alex Rodriquez is using the same stance against MLB since he has a limited time that his body can take the pounding of professional sports. Delaying his suspension by tying the matter up in courts allows him to continue playing for his final year or two.

Like A-Rod, Kelly Marlow only has a finite amount of time left in her political career. At this point, there is little chance that she could win another election. If/when she is convicted of the felonies for lying to police, she will be removed from office. Therefore, it is in her best interest to delay.

Three groups lose by this delay. First, the tea party movement loses because every time Marlow is mentioned in the Atlanta media, it is usually followed by “Tea Party favorite.”

Having her associated with the tea party only diminishes their brand. It also increases the fervor of those on the opposite end of the Republican spectrum.

Second, the Cherokee County Republican Party has the same issue with all three defendants in this case. All three are associated with the Republican Party, hampering its efforts to expand the party’s base.

Finally, it hurts Cherokee County. Every time there is a mention of this case in the local media, it hurts Cherokee County’s reputation as a leader in education and a place where people want to relocate.

All three should resign from their positions in public office and the Republican Party for the best interest of the Party and the community as a whole. Unfortunately, they are more concerned with themselves then the damage that they are causing.

Agreed. The residents of Cherokee County are sick and tired of seeing their names associated with the Republican Party, and we are even more tired of seeing Ms. Marlow's name associated with CCSD. Please, Ms. Marlow, resign already and move on!

Judge Harris recusing himself is one of the largest acts of maturity and leadership in this whole scenario. If only more actions like this, especially at the Governorship, State Legislators, Federal Legislators and Supreme Court level, were of the same caliber.

How does the judge rightfully recusing himself equate to Marlow using a 'delay tactic'? This judge's extremely-tardy, unprofessional decision to recuse himself at the last minute (rather than the day he was assigned the case) likely cost Marlow in the pocketbook, given that lawyers don't work for free.

It's amusing that Sinco complains about the negative effects of Marlow being mentioned in the media yet it is Sinco and other district lovers who continue to post editorials that do exactly what they complain about: Keep Marlow in the media!

Perhaps if these fools stopped obsessing over her, she might not be in the media until her trial takes place.

Excellent points, and accurate. The majority of people in Cherokee County are ready for them to go. Teachers and parents of CCSD students are definitely ready for them to go. We need to get back to the business of doing what's best for the 39,000 students of CCSD and put this sideshow in the history books.
