The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death a 47-year-old Woodstock man found shot to death in his home Sunday night.

Cherokee Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a person down call on the 100 block of Misty Hollow Way on Sunday night and found Christopher Pierce dead, said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the sheriff's office.

"It appears Pierce was shot and killed in his home where he resided alone," Baker said in a Monday news release. "Investigators do not feel this is a random crime and believe the suspect(s) may have known Pierce. Pierce was discovered by his father who called 911."

Investigators are interviewing family members and acquaintances of Pierce, Baker said.

Baker said no charges have been filed at this time.

If anyone has any information about this incident they are urged to contact detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office at 770-928-0239.
