HOLLY SPRINGS — The Holly Springs City Council on Monday night unanimously approved asking the Georgia General Assembly to consider modifying the city’s charter to change how council members are elected.

City Manager Rob Logan said the changes would separate the city into geographic wards and make it so elections are decided by plurality, without runoffs.

“If three people are running for a seat, you don’t have to do a runoff,” Logan said. “Whoever gets the most votes wins.”

Logan said if the Legislature makes the changes to the city’s charter, Holly Springs will work with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office to draw the wards.
