A house in Nelson was destroyed by a fire but no injuries were reported in the blaze that happened Sunday just after 5:45 a.m.

Cherokee County 911 operators first reported a man was trapped inside the house, but Pickens County Sheriff’s deputies reported later that he was out of the residence, said Tim Cavender with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and the Pickens County Fire Department arrived minutes later to report the house was fully engulfed and they immediately began a defensive attack, Cavender said.

The home on at 7 Barrel Way in Nelson was completely destroyed by the fire, Cavender said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is being investigated by Cherokee County fire investigators, Cavender said.
