The Cherokee County School District canceled all activities beginning at 6 p.m. Monday as a result of the National Weather Service’s winter storm warning, district spokeswoman Carrie McGowan said.

“This includes all evening activities, athletic practices and games, classes and meetings scheduled in the school district,” McGowan said. “While the After School Program for elementary schools will remain open until 6:00 p.m., parents should make every effort to pick up their children early, if possible.”

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Cherokee County from 7 p.m. Monday until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

McGowan said the school district will participate in a meeting at the Cherokee County Emergency Operations Center on Monday afternoon, before to making a decision on whether or not to hold school on Tuesday.
