Many people these days have started to worry about eating a healthy diet, but did you ever consider where the food you eat has come from? Where and how the food you eat is grown can make a large impact on a person’s healthy diet. Local farmers provide very fresh and healthy food. What do these farmers help grow?

There many reasons for why people should eat a healthy diet. One is to help provide the body all of its necessary nutrients that are needed for daily functions. Another reason is to help keep a healthy body weight to prevent any unwanted diseases. The vitamins provide help for all parts of the body from hair to eyes. This also helps people grow, develop muscles, and help keep the immune system in top shape. A healthy diet is necessary to keep the human body alive and well.

Georgia farmers and farmers in Cherokee County grow a lot of the necessary foods that fit into the five needed food groups. Farmers in Georgia grow various fruits from apples to grapes even pomegranates. They also grow plenty of healthy, fresh vegetables from cabbage to eggplant and there are even brussel sprout farms. Yet another thing Georgia offers to its citizens is locally grown grains which include: corn, rice, peanuts, soybeans, oats, other beans and wheat. Georgia does offer a small amount of dairy farms, 9, but the production of milk has greatly increased which proves good for a healthy diet. The state of Georgia provides a wide selection protein this includes: beef, fish, swine, and poultry. Georgia provides all varieties of food that are necessary for a healthy and broad diet.

Though the state of Georgia offers everything, what does my local Cherokee County produce? Cherokee county has various fruits to consume which are: cantaloupes, pumpkins, watermelons, apples, and grapes. It also grows a few vegetables which include: snap peas, cucumbers, okra, peas, and sweet potatoes. Lastly Cherokee County provides corn and a few nuts. This is a nice amount of crop for the little farms that are located here. In summary

Cherokee County and the state of Georgia work together to provide its residents a healthy, fresh diet to enjoy, while helping farmers create a living.

The state of Georgia grows a wide variety of foods and, of course, sells these crops to a store or market. The average net gain for a farm in Georgia is $114,497 in 2007. Georgia clearly provides a wide variety of choices for one to eat healthy. It also provides something from each of the main food groups of: grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein. The best part is that you can purchase these fresh, healthy vegetables while supporting the local farmers that helped grow them. All of this helps bring together the large community of the state of Georgia.

In conclusion, it is important to eat a healthy diet as Thomas Edison once said, “The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.” The many farmers of Georgia help make this easy to reach for they grow many different crops. Everything that you should include on your plate can all come straight from Georgia soil. Just remember eat healthy and buy food from your local farmers to help support them.
