School board candidate forum tonight at 6:15 p.m. in Canton

CANTON — All qualified Cherokee County School Board candidates are expected to be at a forum tonight to discuss important issues in education.

The Cherokee County Republican Women group will play host to the School Board candidate forum tonight at the historic Cherokee Courthouse in downtown Canton.

The forum will begin at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.

All eight candidates vying for a seat on the Cherokee County Board of Education confirmed their participation in the forum.

Four seats are up for election in the May 20 Republican primary, and all seats are contested.

John Harmon and Brett Ladd are competing for the District 3 Board of Education seat; Rick Steiner (I) is challenged by Robert Strozier for the District 4 seat; Clark Menard and Erica Williams will face off for the District 5 seat; and Mike Chapman and Susie Tlacil are vying for the District 6 seat.
