HICKORY FLAT — The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office is warning drivers about expected traffic delays during a 5K race April 12 in the Hickory Flat community.

Between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m., traffic will be held up on East Cherokee Drive, Hickory Road and Little Road near Sequoyah High School and Hickory Flat Elementary, because of road closures, said Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

“Please avoid that area if possible during the listed times,” Baker said in a news release. “Alternate routes are highly encouraged.”
