Prep Roundup: Creekview romps against Osborne

Creekview took advantage of its opportunities Thursday, earning a decisive 12-0 win at Osborne.

The Grizzlies (10-6, 7-4 Region 7AAAAA) scored four runs in the first inning before tacking on six in the fourth and two more in the fifth, when the game was called. Creekview managed to score off six hits, five errors, seven walks and other fortunate bounces.

Chandler Wold scored three times and walked three times. Avery Smith was 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI, while Austin Smith batted 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Chase Carmichael (2-0) earned the win after giving up one hit, striking out five and not allowing a run over the final five innings.

Creekview will have the next week off before traveling to Etowah on Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER

River Ridge 6, Cherokee 4:
Brooke DeSantis scored twice as the Lady Knights withstood a high-scoring battle of county rivals.

DeSantis scored once in each half. Arlynn Hott, Alexis Lewis and Kristian Leone added goals in the first half, while Deven Simpson scored in the second.

Lewis also contributed an assist for River Ridge (9-3-1), which will be off until hosting Etowah on April 7.

BOYS TENNIS

Woodstock 3, River Ridge 2:
The Wolverines used victories in both doubles matches to beat the Knights.

River Ridge’s Ben Van Hout won (7-6, 4-6, 10-5) at No. 1 singles. Gray Chumley won the other match for River Ridge at No. 3 singles.

Also in singles, Jake Hicks won his first set 6-3 before dropping the final two.

It was the final match of the season for Woodstock, while River Ridge will continue its season following spring break next week.
