The Reinhardt University coaching and athletics staff was honored recently for their dedication and commitment to the school and its student-athletes with an appreciation event.

Reinhardt Board of Trustees chairman Billy Hasty hosted the event at his home, and others who were on hand for the evening included board members, spouses of the athletics staff, and Reinhardt administration.

“You may have many wins; you may have many losses, but that’s not what it’s all about,” Dr. J. Thomas Isherwood, Reinhardt president, told the group. “What you do is teach young people about life — about being a good winner and being a good loser in any situation. Athletics is a small part of what you teach, and we are grateful for what you do.”

Board of Trustee members added their sentiments and recognized the hard work and dedication the coaching staff provide to student-athletes on and off the field.

“I think sometimes we don’t always realize the significant impact our athletics has on the University,” said Trustee Ken White.

Others agreed. Trustee John Bennett said that seeing the changes take place has been incredible.

Trustee Cecil Pruett agreed.

“We are proud of our coaching staff — thumbs up,” Cecil Pruett said.

“There are many ways to coach,” said Gin Miller. “You are enriching and changing their lives.”

Highlights for Reinhardt athletics this year included: Mid South-East regular season champions for football; Appalachian Athletic Conference champions for softball and soccer; three NAIA Tournament trips; tournament champions in the MLLA and NWLL for men’s and women’s lacrosse, respectively; and four coaches honored as Coach of the Year for their respective sports.

“We are family; we work well together,” said Bill Popp, director of athletics. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years.”
