Ruth Lucille Howard, age 84, of Canton, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2014 at Northside Hospital in Canton, Georgia. Mrs. Howard was born January 6, 1930 in Canton, Georgia, to the late Ernest Gramling and Floy Haley Gramling. Ruth was a life long member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was a native of Canton, Georgia. She was a loving and supportive housewife to the late James Keith Howard. Ruth, or Nanny as she was lovingly called by many of her family members, was known for being a devoted substitute teacher at Hickory Flat Elementary, avid yard saler, devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Howard is survived by her son Ron Howard and his wife Pam of Brasstown, North Carolina; daughter Wanda Dugger and husband Jim of Kingston, Georgia; three grandchildren: Becky, Lindy, and Logan, and one great grandson, Cotton. Visitation for the Howard family will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 2PM until 8PM; also on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 10AM until 1:30PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2PM at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with Reverend Doug Mulkey, Reverend Kenny Morris, Reverend Horace Richards, and Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Memorial Park. Flowers are being accepted at this time. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of these funeral arrangements.
