Capt. Kevin Culpepper said the teen left his home in the early morning hours Wednesday, following an argument with his parents.
“Eric is thought to have left his residence on foot with possibly a maroon backpack that has Woodstock High School Wrestling imprinted on it with several clothing items within, possibly including several pairs of khaki shorts, shirts and a Destin, Fla., tank top,” a release from the police department said.
Culpepper said no foul play is expected and Festner is not wanted for any crime, but police have listed him as a runaway/unruly child in order to get him back to his parents.
“He is not missing, there is no foul play, no danger, he simply got angry with his parents,” Culpepper said. Culpepper said there was a lot of talk on social media about the teen going missing.
The police captain said Festner had no money and no cellphone with him when he left home, according to the boy’s parents.
“He is probably pretty close, probably at a buddy’s house,” Culpepper said.
Festner is described as about 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighs about 140 pounds with brown shaggy hair, brown eyes and acne scars on his face.
“Eric has been entered into the state’s system as a missing person,” the release said.
The Woodstock Police Department is asking that if anyone sees Fesner they contact 911 to have an officer make contact with him and notify the Cherokee County Dispatch Center at (678) 493-4080.
