Aquatic center to host district championships

On the heels the winning a third straight county championship, the Bradshaw Barracudas swim team will be back in the pool today at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center, this time teaming up with another local group.

More than three dozen members of the Barracudas qualified in individual events and will be joined by other swimmers from the county to form the Cherokee Cyclones for today’s meet.

The Georgia Recreation and Park Association’s fifth district championships will be held as a qualifier for the state championships.

Among those qualifying for the district meet were Caroline Bagwell, Molly Kate Bagwell, Tafton Barber, Tristan Barber, Josh Bath, Walker Beck, Hannah Becker, Lainey Blase, Laurel Blase, Anthony Cangemi, Kamryn Carter, Morgan Carter, Ansley Davis, Grant Davis, Max Derman, Nick Duclos, Aiden Duffy, Carson Duffy, Kristina Friedrichs, Jack Garnham, Connor Gelatt, Emma Gelatt, Kelsey Jackson, Madeline Janflone, Nick Janflone, Nate Johnson, Connor Johnston, Katherine Johnston, Alyssa Kirby, Abbi Laczko, Braeden Larson, Kyra Larson, Teresa Lee, Lauren McCloskey, Mac McCloskey, Brooks McLain, Clare Mills, Liam Mills, Mikayla Miller, Noah Miller, Chad Morrow, Kylie Mullings, Jack Murray, Brett Piskorz, Jack Piskorz, Kyle Renner, Rachel Renner, Joseph Richmond, Mallory Richmond, Maddy Rogers, Bryson Shaw, Allison Sparkman, Ben Syers, Jack Syers, Kelci Verdon, Blake Wallace, Jordan Weems and Emma Williams.

The top three finishers in each event at the district meet will advance to the state championships, set for July 25-26 at the Cumming Aquatic Center.

The Cherokee Cyclones will compete against other teams from the fifth district, which includes, Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta and Woodstock, as well as groups from Fannin, Douglas, Paulding, Pickens, Murray, Catoosa, Bartow and Whitfield counties.
