After meeting with a group from the Latino community Wednesday, Deal said in a statement that officials are trying to find out where the minors are staying and that he asked the group for information they're gathering in the community.
WSB-TV reports that Deal opened Wednesday's meeting only to Spanish-speaking media outlets.
Brian Robinson, a spokesman for the governor, told The Associated Press in an email Thursday that the issue is important to all Georgians, but has even deeper resonance in the Latino community so the governor wanted to speak directly to that community.
