A man died after he was hit by two cars, while walking in the middle of Interstate 575 southbound in the early morning hours Tuesday.

Rommel Beckles, 26, of Snellville, was walking in the middle southbound lane of Interstate 575, just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, and “wearing dark colored clothing,” when the first car hit him, said Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson.

“He came to rest in the southbound left lane and a second passenger vehicle struck his body again,” Watson said.

Beckles was pronounced dead on the scene, Watson said, and “the reason Mr. Beckles was on the interstate is unknown.”

“Both drivers stayed at the scene and there were no charges,” Watson said, adding that the investigation of the incident is complete.
