The Honorable Judge James L. “Jim” Cline, Jr., of Greensboro, Georgia, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the age of 62. He was born April 17, 1952 in Canton, GA, the son of the late Peggy Nally Cline and James Levi Cline, Sr. of Waleska, GA. He was a graduate of Cherokee County High School and the University of Georgia, with a degree in Wildlife Management from the Warnell School of Forestry. He also obtained a law degree from the Walter F. George Law School at Mercer University in Macon, GA. After graduating, he established his first law practice in Greensboro, Georgia. He became the Assistant DA for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit and then Assistant DA for Bibb County. In 1995, he was appointed the Superior Court Judge of the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit by Governor Zell Miller. Judge Cline served with distinction during his career and was beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His jurisdiction extended from Jones, Baldwin, Greene, Hancock, Jasper, Morgan, Putnam and Wilkinson counties. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and cooking and was locally famous for his BBQ sauce – Judge Cline’s #9. When time permitted, he loved to travel. In addition to his son, James Levi “J” Cline, III and his fiance’, Lynn Oliver of Nashville, TN, he is survived by his father, James Levi Cline, Sr. of Waleska, GA and Claire J. Cline, long time love and companion. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church South Campus, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Richard Chewning and Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the members of The Curling Society and the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Judges. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia, 180 E.
