Mr. Boyce Edward Waldroup, Jr., age 52, of Jasper, Georgia, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his residence, following a brief illness. Born January 15, 1957, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, he was the son of Boyce Edward Waldroup, Sr. and Lillie Irene Frady Waldroup. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Waldroup, paternal grandparents, Les Waldroup and Nell Mann; maternal grandparents, Henry Frady and Ivy Mae Hawk Frady. Mr. Waldroup had served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a brick mason. Survivors include his wife, Amenda Waldroup of Jasper, Ga.; daughter, Alisha Waldroup of Jasper, Ga.; son, Boyce Edward Waldroup, III of Savannah, Ga.; sisters, Joyce Perlot of Marietta, Ga., Wanda Carter of Hayesville, N.C., Vivian Baker of Hayesville, N.C., Teresa Pierson of Bryson City, N.C., Geraldine Swords of Hayesville, N.C., Delores Taylor of Bryson City, N.C., Hilda Taylor of Sylva, N.C.; brothers, Ray Waldroup of Cullberson, N.C., Randall Waldroup of Blue Ridge, Ga., Johnny Waldroup of Ellijay, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Sharptop Baptist Church, the Rev. Edwin Weaver and Rev. Jeff Priest will officiate, with the interment to follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by DAV Chapter 47. Those serving as pallbearers are Mr. Shane Hulsey, Mr. Jeff Brock, Mr. Darrell Perlot, Mr. Jayson Perlot, Mr. Jimmy Blackwell and Mr. Jason Rich. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12 noon on Tuesday until the funeral hour on Thursday.
