Melvin John Chapman, born October 16, 1930, passed away December 10, 2009. Melvin is a U.S. Army veteran of 22 years. He served in the DMZ in Korea and multiple tours in Germany. He completed his career with an additional 22 years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Upon retirement, he gave freely of himself working with Habitat for Humanity as well as other charitable organizations and was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, three daughters, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister. He will be laid to rest on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1 pm with full military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA 30114. There will be a service to celebrate his life at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1208 Rose Creek Drive, Woodstock, GA 30189 at 3 pm following the burial. Woodstock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 770-926-3107
