Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. James B. "J.B." Weir, Jr., age 88, of Canton, formerly of Jefferson, who passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010. Mr. Weir, born in Jefferson, Georgia, was a son of the late, James B. Weir, Sr. and the late, Bessie O'Kelley Weir. He worked as an engineer for 27 years in the radio and television production industry with companies in Tulsa and Sacremento; and was a U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran of World War II. Mr. Weir was preceded in death by his brother, Ollin Clyde Weir and sister, Lottie Crowe. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Mary Weir of Atlanta. Nephews, David L. Weir and his wife Debbie of Livermore, CA, Joe Weir and his wife Nannette of McDonough. Great nephew and niece, Nolan and Julia; and many cousins, friends, and dear family members living in the Jefferson community. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 24, 2010 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce.
